About Battle of the Books
America’s Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for students in 3rd thru 12th grades. Students read books and come together to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books they have read.
Swamp Fox Bookstore will be sponsoring a Battle of the Books competition in the Spring of 2021. You can register your child online using the button below or downloading the registration form and returning it to the store.
How to Participate
A student participates by reading from the book list provided for this year’s America’s Battle of the Books. A list of the chosen books for each grade level are available by clicking on the buttons below.
2020 Battle of the Books Reading Lists
Students may count books they have read before. However, they cannot count books that they have only seen on a video or a movie. They must read the book. They may want to keep a summary of each book they read so they can review this information before the competition. The book lists above can be used a tracking sheets.
Copies of the books, which are chosen by the Battle of the Books organization, will be available at Swamp Fox Bookstore for pickup or local delivery or online via our shop on Bookshop.org.
About the Competition
Battle of the Books will be an individual competition this year. Students in any area and school district — even those that live out of town — are eligible to participate through Swamp Fox Bookstore.
Students can earn prizes for number of books read and number of questions answered correctly at the end of the year competition. There will be an combined overall prize in each category for the most books read and number of correct answers.
Monthly updates about the competition and reading recommendations will be posted on our Facebook page and in our monthly newsletter. You will be added to our newsletter list once you complete the sign-up form.
Details about the Battle of the Book competition will be sent in the spring of 2021.
